SO.  double berry vodka spritzers.  you in?

i thought so.  these are SO delicious and worth the “extra” work to make them.  sweet and tart… with a lovely “are you sure theres vodka in there” vibe.  what's not to love?  truth time: my FAVORITE drinks are the ones you can't taste the liquor in.  because i'm a baby.  SO. double berry vodka spritzers! you in? i thought so. these are SO delicious and worth the "extra" work (aka you have to infuseeeee some vodka with fruit) to make them. sweet and tart... with a lovely "are you sure theres really vodka in there" vibe. | thepikeplacekitchen.com

wanna know something exciting?!

i gave up beer and cider this year.

omgggggg.  guys i was like a cider addict (not literally but almost?) .  frankie told me last night when i went to make a cocktail that “its so weird that you're not going to grab an angry orchard from the kitchen.”

and it is.  it's super weird.  BUT it's also exciting because it means i'm going to be experimenting with different kinds of hard liquor and making MARTINIS.  cause they're my favorite.

also gin and tonics.  i see a bunch of those in my future.  and jam jars.  and mojitos.  oh and wine.  i can have wine.

are you like wondering why i'm doing this?  mainly because calories.  and because im embarking on a whole new healthy lifestyle etc etc. sooooo i'm also limiting the number of times i can drink a week… two times a week.

guys listen, i'm going to be running a MARATHON this year and i just can't keep staying out till midnight (lets be real i only stay out till 10) drinking with friends.  i have training runs and cross training and STUFF to do.

i'm sure i'll make exceptions for like vacations if i take any.  but other than that, those are the rules.

but its okay because that means two times a week i can drink THESE.  and they're just so good.

and um.  did you see the color?  cause i'm a broken record and really that's all i care about.

Double Berry Vodka Spritzers
Author: Ashley
Prep time:
Cook time:
Total time:
Serves: 16
Ingredients
  • for the strawberry vodka:
  • 1 pound of strawberries
  • 2 cups plain vodka
  • for the blueberry vodka:
  • 1 pint blueberries
  • 1 + 1/4 cup vodka
  • for one spritzer:
  • 1 + 1/2 ounce vodka
  • 3 ounces lemonade (fyi you'll need about 6 cups to make a full batch)
  • sparkling water
Instructions
  1. Wash the strawberries and blueberries thoroughly.
for the strawberry vodka:
  1. Remove the strawberry tops and dice the strawberries. Place in a container and cover with vodka. Cover, set aside, and let the strawberries infuse for at least two hours, but up to two days.
  2. After the vodka is finished infusing, stream out the strawberry pieces. I always save the strawberry pieces for garnish on the cocktails, but this is optional.
for the blueberry vodka:
  1. Place the blueberries in a blender with the vodka. Blend until the blueberries are completely broken down. Pour the mixture into a jar or container and cover.
  2. Set side and let the vodka infuse for at least two hours, but up to two days.
  3. When the vodka is finished infusing, pour the mixture over a cheese cloth to get any “pulp” removed. The vodka should be colored, but you should be able to see through it.
for the spritzers:
  1. If you're making this for a large crowd I'd mix the vodkas together to make it easier on yourself. Or, if you're nicer than me, you can offer your guests the ability to make their own and choose if they want just strawberry, just blueberry, or double berry spritzers!
  2. To make the spritzer fill a glass with ice (crushed is preferred) and add the shot of vodka. Pour the lemonade into the glass and top with sparkling water.
  3. Garnish with vodka strawberries and extra blueberries and serve with a straw.
  4. Alternatively, if you have a soda stream I make this with the crystal light soda stream mix and it's YUM!
